What's up, yall??
Hope everyone's doing well. Thank you for coming back to this blogger page-- I know I'm supposed to use tumbler now but I still can't wrap my head around tumbler (I hear it's like 90% porn, is that right?) I'm sure I'll have a tumbler up and running as soon as everybody jumps to the next thing. People who go way back will remember I was on geocities LONG after everyone had moved on from there.
Whatever-- you're here now. That's what's important. You're here and I'm here. I'm hard at work on a bunch of covers and lithographs and t-shirts AND on My Little Pony Friends Forever #7. Busy. Also, planning a wedding and heading to a TON of conventions....

The Bay Area Brony Spectacular!
Bay Area Brony Spectacular, aka BABSCon, is the first-ever convention for fans of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic in the San Francisco Bay Area. We aim to bring My Little Pony fun with San Francisco style. For our first year, we’ll be happening on April 18-20, 2014 at the SFO Hyatt Regency just outside San Francisco proper. Come on out and join the fun!Like I said, I'll be there Sunday, April 20th- Signing, sketching and selling prints and sketchbooks.
And you can see me, Andy Price, Heather Breckel and Heather Nuhfer talk Pony comics at the MLP COMICS PANEL Sunday from 10:30am-Noon in Panel Hall 1 (the Lunar Hall.)
We’re excited to announce MLP comic coloristHeather Breckel, artist Tony Fleecs, and writerHeather Nuhfer will be joining Andy Price as Guests of Honor at BABSCon this April! We figured it takes more than one person to make a comic and there are so many great teams working on the My Little Pony comics. So we had to bring as many as we could to San Francisco for best con of the year. Coming to make the Bay Area more colorful, these comic creators can be found sketching in our dealers hall and drawing (see what we did there?) upon their experiences as IDW staffers during their panels.
And then I'll fly home, draw for 4 days and jump BACK on a plane to Chicago's...
...C2E2 2014!
Super excited to see my midwest friends again so soon! This is my second time at c2e2. Last year was awesome. Chicago has some great comic fans!
I'll be at Artist Alley V-17 all weekend selling art and prints, sketching and signing. Come by and say hi!
Also at c2e2- I'll have a page from MLP Friends Forever #2 up for auction to benefit St Judes Children's research hospital.
Have Fun. Get Art. Save Lives.
Date: Saturday, April 26
Time: 7:30 PM - 9:30 PM
Location: Room S403
Back again for the third time, C2E2 is holding its annual Charity Art Auction benefiting the St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital. There will be over 50 pieces of original art from creators up for auction with the talented auctioneer Steve Borock handling the bids. Join us on Saturday, April 26 from 7:30 - 9:30 PM and bid on unique one-of-a-kind pieces of art, all while benefiting a great cause!
Over the last 3 years, ReedPOP has been holding auctions at its events raising money for St. Jude’s. At the end of 2013, ReedPOP’s grand total raised reached over $104,000 and is continuing the effort in 2014.
And as long as we're raising funds for good causes---
The Sakai Project!
My Usagi piece for the Sakai Project. |
My studiomate and best pal Tone Rodriguez was instrumental in putting together the Sakai Project to benefit Stan and Sharon Sakai (Details and donation info here.)
I did a piece that's in the book and the original art will be auctioned off sometime soon by CapsAuction on ebay. All proceeds from the book, auction and paypal go right to Stan and Sharon.
The most amazing artists in the world have
come together to celebrate thirty years of
Stan Sakai's marvelous samurai rabbit saga,
Usagi Yojimbo. The participating artists bring
their own interpretations and their own styles
to the subject, making this book a one-of-akind
treasure.
Produced in association with the Comic Art
Professional Society (CAPS). All proceeds
from this book will go to Stan and Sharon
Sakai.
And finally, on a non-charity note--
I did the cover art for the first Novel by internet film criticism sensation, Vern (author of Seagalogy and Yippie-Ki-Yay Moviegoer, etc.) I'm a long time fan of Vern's work and was super honored to do up this decidedly non-my little pony style cover for him.
Vern gave me a copy of the book at Emerald City Comic-Con a couple weeks ago and I'm relieved to say that it's really, really good. It's like Richard Stark but with Chayefsky style satire and with like a wandering Richard Linklater pace-- but in Vern's unmistakable voice. Really great. I can't wait for him to do more.
Anyway, I painted the cover. Here's what it looks like uncropped.
(that's my little brother Curtis getting his face stepped on.)
WHERE TO BUY NIKETOWN:
Amazon has it in real book or electronical Kindle book
Smashwords has all the electro-book formats
Createspace is who makes the book
Ok. That's it for now. Many more shows & books coming soon Denver, Las Vegas, Baltimore, New York 2 times... It's gonna be a busy year! I'm excited to see you guys soon. Thanks for reading.
